vox ac 50 head problem

Postby hrvbluebird » Thu Sep 17, 2009 4:17 am

hello from France everybody!

i have a problem with my vox ac50 head (2 el34+ diode rectifier), i did a resistor and cap job + electrolytics and the amp sounds good but after 4-5 on the volume pot (on both channels) i have a big "hiss" or "whistle".
i also cleaned the pots and tube sockets, checked the grounds, swapped the preamp tubes with good working ones, swapped the output tubes with matched and new ones, ...
if someone have a idea about this problem it would be cool!!
many thx

Welcome aboard Herve. I always believed whistling comes from bad caps, but there are people here who know way more than me. Good luck

Could be a ground problem too.
